 Welcome to Isle O'Pines

Just beginning the 41st year at Isle O'Pines and looking forward to having guests staying at  beautiful Ice House. I expect to be staying at the island all the warmer months May - October this year, and hopefully hosting some interesting guests  who have an appreciation of the outdoors and the natural beauty of the island and the lake. Also enjoying swimming and boating or kyaking from the private dock.

Finally adding some new content....2012

Actually most of these changes were added in 2011, new living room furnishing, big help in selection from Jackie, Michele and John, then Suzanne came in and got rid of a lot of clutter, and cleaned it up....Great team effort

New Season at the Island

Got an early start this year, the ice went out March 30th, and I came up to open up and check things out on April 1st, earliest ever. Everything was in very good shape, so the open was pretty easy, and since I wasn't working started right in cleaning up. Stayed for the first week, weather was incredible, got a lot done.

Had a little setback on April 15th, when I had a little fire going in the morning, thought I put out completely, watered it down etc. I had to leave to go back to the city for a meeting and left about 1:00PM,  a resident on the east side of the lake and a clear view of the island saw huge billows of smoke above the trees. He and his neighbor who fortunately had a little boat in the water rushed over and worked feverish to put the fire, by this time it was approaching the new IceHouse, and it would have gone up like a torch. Thank god for those great neighbors they saved a disaster. The fire department arrived about an hour and a half after their call, and by this time they had effectively put it out.

2010 - 27th Year At the Island

Started the 27th year at the island with a ski-in visit on February 15th with Jackie. The skiing was a little tough, lots of deep snow on the lake and not many snowmobile tracks to follow. But we warmed up the "washhouse" checked the place out.
Everything seemed to have wintered well....to that point, looked like some fresh wolf tracks and signs, but didn't get attacked.
